Google has progressively updated its ranking algorithm since it was first founded in 1998 to favour websites that provide the best possible user experience. In 2025, transparency, trustworthiness, and content quality are key in retaining credibility with users as well as search engines.
Recently SmartCompany released an article looking back at four of the “weirdest, scariest tech trends of 2024”. Predictably, AI made an appearance, for both weird and scary reasons. And fair enough, too. There have unquestionably been some eccentric and ethically questionable uses of AI technology – especially on social media. Although AI definitely has some impressive uses, perhaps a modicum of scepticism is in order.
AI tech isn’t going anywhere. It’s got a wide range of applications across a wide range of industries, and in a world where tech moves fast and time is at a premium, people look for any advantage they can. Day-to-day, these applications range from the mundane – sifting through emails and spreadsheets – to the potentially life-saving – like spotting cancer early.
